Melody Harvey

Visiting Fellow – Economic Studies, The Hamilton Project

Melody Harvey is a visiting fellow in Economic Studies with The Hamilton Project at the Brookings Institution, and an assistant professor of consumer science at University of Wisconsin–Madison. Her research examines how public policies affect personal and household finances among economically vulnerable populations in the United States, with careful attention to low- and moderate-income households and young adults. Her current work focuses on financial regulations, high school financial education mandates, and social welfare policies. In addition to academic publications, her work has been cited in numerous policy contexts, including state K-12 financial education legislation and a Congressional briefing on financial literacy. She earned a B.A. in Economics from Reed College, an M.P.P. from Pepperdine University, and a Ph.D. in Policy Analysis from the Pardee RAND Graduate School.
